    Principal’s Message

I would like to express my gratitude to all the stakeholders who have supported the University of South Jackson since I took on the role of lead learner in July 2018. During this time, our school has experienced significant changes, including successfully navigating a global pandemic and undergoing extensive renovations on campus. Our core mission at 2607 Raymond Road remains unchanged: we are dedicated to providing scholars with a well-rounded education encompassing academic and life skills. Our vision is that through the dedication, belief, and actions of our staff, each of our scholars will graduate with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in college/university, a career, or the military.

I am proud to share that our graduation rate has steadily increased since my arrival.  Our graduation rate was 66%, and it has risen each school year since. Our combined efforts culminated in us moving from a failing school to a "B" rated school during the 23-24 school year.  As a school community, we want to reach "A" status, but that is not our goal.

Our guiding principle at USJ is "All Hands on Deck," and we are committed to embodying this mantra every day so that the scholars we serve receive our best each day!  To sustain our upward trajectory, we will continue striving for nothing less than our best. Looking ahead, we are embarking on a 187-day journey of Excellence for the 24-25 school year.

Good, Better, Best, never let it rest until your Good becomes your Better, and your Better
Becomes your ABSOLUTE BEST! Let’s Be great!!

    Sincerely,

    Torrey A. Hampton, Principal
