Cass Simmons
Mx. Cass Simmons describes her current position in the dance realm as a movement artist, dance educator, and kinesthetic researcher. In 2018, she received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance (e. Performance and Choreography) at the University of Southern Mississippi, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Directly following her BFA, Cass acquired her MFA in Dance from Hollins University in Virginia. Since then, she has studied and performed both nationally and internationally, and taught full-time as a Visiting Assistant Professor for the School of Performing and Visual Arts at USM for the 2021-2022 academic year. Along with the joy of movement, Cass emphasizes inclusion and rigor in the dance space, as well as acknowledges the mental and emotional facets of such a physical, ephemeral artform. She is an alumnus of Mississippi School of the Arts and originally from Hattiesburg, MS.
