Dr. Shelita Brown is a native of Utica, Mississippi. Dr. Brown has 24 years of educational experience. In her career, she has served impactfully in Hinds County Public Schools, the Mississippi Department of Education, and 澳门六合彩开奖接口. Dr. Brown graduated salutatorian of the Hinds Agricultural High School Class of 1999, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (Magna Cum Laude) at Alcorn State University as a first-generation college graduate. She continued her studies in Education by obtaining a Master of Science degree and two Specialist degrees in Secondary Education and Administration from Mississippi College (Summa Cum Laude), and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Mississippi State University (Summa Cum Laude). Dr. Brown’s research interests focus on teacher preparation in mathematics education and the use of technology to enhance mathematics instruction. Her work is cited in more than 50 research papers. 

From the position of assistant principal at Murrah High School, Dr. Brown was named the 2019–2020 principal of Provine High School where she and her team led in improving the school accountability rating to a “Successful” rating during her five-year tenure. For the 2024–2025 school year, Dr. Brown will serve as the principal of the newly formed 澳门六合彩开奖接口 Virtual High School Academy (grades 9-12) and the 澳门六合彩开奖接口 Middle College (grades 11-12). 

Dr. Brown continues to touch the lives of many scholars, parents, and teachers with her ability to lead, educate, and inspire. Dr. Brown is a member of the Change Church Global, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and the Junior League of Jackson. In her spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys travel and photography, having visited more than 20 countries.
